But many of them cannot associate with angels because they have in this way acquired a mournful life, and have retired from a life of charity which can only be led in the world; while angels’ life is happy because of its blessedness, and is made up of serving good purposes which are works of charity. Besides, people who have led a life withdrawn from worldly matters burn with a sense of merit and therefore constantly covet heaven. They think of heavenly joy as a reward, utterly unaware of what heavenly joy is. Once they are among angels and involved in their joy – which contains no sense of merit, and is made up of jobs and down-to-earth tasks, and blessedness derived from the good they accomplish in this way – they are surprised as people seeing something foreign to their faith. Swedenborgianism is a 250-year-old religion that some describe more as a spiritual path than a book of dogma. We do not worship Swedenborg, but his writings give far more insights than many other teachings can provide. He wrote over 7,000 pages and provides unprecedented insights that are now being confirmed by near death experiences (NDEs).
Emanuel Swedenborg explained in his theological writings how the Divine Trinity exists in One Person, in One God, the Lord Jesus Christ, which he said is taught in Colossians 2:9. According to The Heavenly Doctrine, Jesus, the Son of God, came into the world because of the spread of evil here.
We tend to meet virtually on zoom these days, and most of our members are in King and Kitsap counties.
Wayfarers Chapel and the Swedenborgian Spiritual Community are both members of the Pacific Coast Association, a regional collective of Convention Swedenborgian churches.

Wayfarers Chapel is the cherished flagship for the Pacific Coast Association. Designed by the son of Frank Lloyd Wright, this beautiful chapel was dismantled to preserve it from the devastating landslides in Rancho Palos Verdes.
